Actress Mimi Gibson, who voiced the puppy Lucky in Disney's 1961 animated classic "101 Dalmatians," will appear in person at the Orinda Theatre on Saturday, July 18, for a Q&A following a 1 p.m. screening of the film.

Gibson was 11 years old when she recorded the role of Lucky, the spotted pup whose markings fall in the shape of a horseshoe. During the 1950s and early 1960s, she appeared in 34 films and roughly 200 television episodes, according to her filmography. Her credits include "Houseboat" (1958), in which she played one of Cary Grant's children opposite Sophia Loren.

The Orinda Theatre event is part of the venue's Disney Restorations Series and Wide-Screen Roadshow programming, according to The Orinda News. Gibson will take the stage after the screening to share memories of working with Walt Disney and making the film.

In a 2015 interview with D23, Disney's official fan club, Gibson described how the child voice actors recorded lines for multiple roles and were assigned characters afterward. "I didn't know who I was [playing] and the others didn't know who they were," she said at the time.

Gibson voiced one of the film's memorable lines as Lucky: "I'm tired and I'm hungry and my tail's froze...and my nose is froze and my ears are froze. And my toes are froze."

Beyond her Hollywood career, Gibson became an advocate for child actors, testifying before a California legislative panel in 1999 on statutory protections for young performers' earnings. Her memoir, "Working Kid," was published in June 2021.

After the "101 Dalmatians" screening and Gibson's appearance, the Orinda Theatre will show the 1958 film "Houseboat" at 3:30 p.m. for separate admission. Diablo Magazine highlighted the Gibson appearance as one of the top East Bay events for the week, calling it "a rare chance to experience the film with one of its original performers."
