Orinda families can register for the city's third annual Trunk & Treat, a Halloween event set for Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Orinda Library Parking Garage and Plaza.
The Orinda Parks and Recreation Department, led by Director Todd Trimble, is organizing the event. Children ages 1 to 11 can walk through car trunks decorated for Halloween, play games and collect candy, the Lamorinda Weekly reported.
Registration is required for every participating child. Parents and guardians do not need to register themselves.
Three 45-minute sessions run back to back: 4:30 to 5:15 p.m., 5:15 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 6:45 p.m. Families should pick the session that works best for their schedule when they sign up through the city's website at cityoforinda.gov.
The fee is $7 for Orinda residents and $8.05 for nonresidents, plus a 3% Facility Preservation Fee. All registrations are non-refundable.
More than a dozen local organizations are sponsoring trunks, according to the city's event page. The list includes the Orinda Police Department, the Orinda Chamber of Commerce, the Orinda Library, the Orinda Junior Women's Club, the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD), California Magic Soccer Club, Friends of the Joaquin Moraga Adobe and the Orinda Association. The Lamorinda Arts Council, Rotary Club of Orinda and Friends of the Orinda Library are also participating.
Families can visit Taste of the World Market Food Trucks after their session, according to the city. Organizers are billing it as the last food truck evening of the year, giving families a chance to grab dinner after their session ends.
