Tutu's Food & Drink in downtown Lafayette is the only Lamorinda restaurant to earn a readers' pick in Diablo Magazine's 2026 Best of the East Bay Food & Drink awards, taking the top spot in the breakfast category.

The annual feature, published Friday, July 24, covers more than 25 food and drink categories across the East Bay. Readers cast ballots for their favorites, and Tutu's beat out competitors regionwide for the breakfast honor.

The organic restaurant and market sits at 53 Lafayette Circle in the Fiesta Square area, a space that carries real history for downtown diners. The location operated for 22 years as Chow, the small Bay Area chain known for brunch and dinner, before the Lafayette Restaurant Group took over and reopened it as Tutu's in 2019, according to Eater SF reporting from that May. The transition kept much of the existing staff in place while shifting the concept toward organic sourcing and a broader international menu.

Tutu's serves breakfast daily until 4 p.m., with dishes ranging from huevos rancheros and chilaquiles to smoked salmon hash and baguette French toast. The restaurant also operates a full bar, lunch and dinner service, and an attached market selling organic and locally sourced products.

The breakfast win is part of a strong showing for Lafayette businesses in Diablo Magazine's 2026 awards cycle. A separate Best of the East Bay Shopping & Services feature, published Friday, July 17, honored four other Lafayette businesses as readers' picks: Vintage Vida for antiques, First Mile Cycle Works for bicycles, Venture Quality Goods for men's clothing and stationery, and Diablo Foods for specialty grocery. Combined, the two features give Lafayette five readers' picks across the magazine's 2026 Best of the East Bay series.

No other Orinda or Moraga business appeared in either the food and drink or shopping and services readers' picks lists.
