Registration opened Monday, Sept. 14, for Orinda's Trunk & Treat, a Halloween event featuring displays, games and candy for children ages 1 to 11.

The City of Orinda's Parks and Recreation Department is offering three 45-minute sessions, according to a civic alert posted the same day:

  • Session 1: 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
  • Session 2: 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Session 3: 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Only children need to register. Parents and guardians do not. The Parks and Recreation Department said registrations are nonrefundable.

The event doubles as the final Taste of the World Market food truck night of the year, according to the city's announcement. After each session wraps, families can walk over to the food trucks. The weekly Thursday Nights in Orinda food truck series, held at the Orinda Community Center Park at 28 Orinda Way, runs through Thursday, Oct. 1.

The city's announcement did not specify the Trunk & Treat's calendar date or ticket price. Families can check session availability and pricing on the Parks and Recreation Department's registration page at rec1.com.

More than a dozen local organizations are sponsoring the event, including the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD), the Orinda Police Department, the Orinda Chamber of Commerce, the Orinda Library, the Lamorinda Arts Council, the Rotary Club of Orinda, Friends of the Joaquin Moraga Adobe and several youth soccer clubs.

The city's online calendar listed the first Trunk & Treat on Oct. 24, 2024, billed as the "Inaugural" edition. The Parks and Recreation Department's fall activity guide, published in July, now calls the event "Annual."
