Moraga firefighters will flip pancakes and open the doors at Station 41 on Saturday, Oct. 10, for the district's annual Fire Prevention Week celebration.

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) is hosting its Moraga Pancake Breakfast and Fire Station Open House from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1284 Moraga Way, according to the district's website. Families can grab breakfast, tour the station and talk with firefighters about home safety. MOFD posted the announcement on Sept. 16.

The open house falls on the final day of national Fire Prevention Week, which runs Oct. 4-10. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which has sponsored the observance for more than 100 years, set this year's theme: "Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower."

The campaign focuses on lithium-ion battery charging safety. Many phones, laptops, e-bikes and scooters run on rechargeable lithium-ion cells, and the NFPA said in a Sept. 23 press release that those batteries can overheat, catch fire or explode when damaged or charged incorrectly. Lorraine Carli, NFPA vice president of outreach and advocacy, said the goal is to help people make informed choices and build simple habits that reduce the risks.

MOFD's open house is one of several across the region. Robyn Graham of the Diablo Firesafe Council, a nonprofit that serves the Lamorinda area, published a list of Fire Prevention Week events on Oct. 1. Among them is a Contra Costa County Fire open house at 2945 Treat Blvd. in Concord, running 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day, according to the fire district’s official listing.

The station is no stranger to the tradition. MOFD advertised a pancake breakfast at Station 41 for Oct. 11, 2025, according to its announcement.

Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. Residents looking for additional open houses across Contra Costa County can check the full list at diablofiresafe.org.
