Four candidates for two Moraga Town Council seats will face voters Oct. 6 when the Moraga Citizens Network hosts its annual Candidates Night at Saint Mary's College.
The forum runs from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. in the Moraga Room at the Soda Center. Town Council candidates take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) District 3 candidates at 8:15 p.m. Candidates for the Moraga School District and Acalanes Union High School District (AUHSD) governing boards close the evening at 8:45 p.m., according to Patch.
The Town Council race is the headliner. Mayor Kerry Hillis and Councilmember Steve Woehleke, both incumbents with terms expiring at the end of the year, face challenges from Moraga Planning Commission member Alexis Mapel and former Moraga Park Commissioner Bill Carman, the Lamorinda Weekly reported.
The MOFD District 3 seat is also contested. Incumbent Vice President Steven Danziger stepped out of the race and threw his support to John Donnelly, who is running against Steve Cohn, the Lamorinda Weekly reported.
The Moraga School District races on the ballot are uncontested. On the Moraga School District board, incumbent President Larry Jacobs and incumbent Vice President Martha White are the only two candidates for three open seats. Incumbent Kristin Kraetsch is not seeking reelection, and no additional candidates filed.
The AUHSD governing board includes two uncontested trustee areas on the Nov. 3 ballot: Jennifer Chen in Area 3 and Nancy Kendzierski in Area 5. A contested race exists in Area 1, where incumbent Stacey Schweppe faces challenger Nithin Iyengar, though it is unclear whether that race will be part of the Oct. 6 forum.
Residents who cannot attend in person can watch via Zoom. Details are available at MCNMoraga.org. The general election is Nov. 3.
