A Black Student Union HBCU College Fair on Friday, Sept. 18, opens a fall lineup of student culture and inclusion events across the Acalanes Union High School District.
The events are organized by the Campus Culture Committee (CCC), the Campolindo DEIB Parents and the Black Student Union (BSU), according to the Acalanes High School Parents Club.
The CCC begins its 2026-27 season with an in-person meeting on Monday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Acalanes High School in Lafayette. All sessions run an hour. Three more are scheduled: a wellness workshop with Patrick Turner on Monday, Dec. 14, in person; a virtual meeting on Jan. 11, 2027; and a year-end retreat in May, with the date still to be set.
The Campolindo DEIB Parents are hosting what they call their first cross-campus event on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Campolindo High School Library in Moraga. The Campolindo DEIB Parents said the evening is open to parents and guardians from all AUHSD schools and described it as the start of more opportunities for families across campuses to connect and support students districtwide.
BSU, advisory groups round out the calendar
The BSU has four events planned for the year. After the Sept. 18 college fair, a BSU Summit is set for Monday, Oct. 19. A State BSU Conference runs Nov. 16-18, and a districtwide BSU dance or social is planned for February.
Several standing committees also continue meeting. The LGBTQ Council meets quarterly with student leaders, advisors and district staff. The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee meets monthly. The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) holds its meetings at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek.
Families who want to raise topics related to school culture or inclusion can contact the Acalanes Parents Club at [email protected].
Acalanes also describes itself as a 'No Hate Zone' and offers a Bias Incident Reporting Tool on its website for students who experience or witness incidents involving hate or bias, according to the Parents Club.
