The 29th annual Lafayette Art & Wine Festival takes over downtown Lafayette on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20. The two-day street festival brings live music on four stages, art vendors, food and drink to Mt. Diablo Boulevard, Lafayette Circle and La Fiesta Square.

The festival drew large crowds in 2025, though sources differ on the total. The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event, reported more than 75,000 attendees. Patch reported more than 65,000. Either way, the festival ranks among the largest annual events in Contra Costa County.

The festival opens at 10 a.m. both days. Saturday runs until 7 p.m. and Sunday wraps at 6 p.m.

Admission, parking and all music are free.

Four stages, local performers

The 2026 lineup has since been announced. Three stages will host Bay Area cover bands playing jazz, blues, country and rock — the Fiesta Stage near La Fiesta Square, the Bank Stage at Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Lafayette Circle, and the Premier Pavilion Stage on Lafayette Circle — alongside the Community Stage. Saturday's bill includes The Elmwoods, ZEBOP! and The Spazmatics; Sunday brings East Bay Mudd, Freestone Peaches and The Big Jangle, among others.

The Community Stage, coordinated by Jacob Light and Briget Boyle of ModernTone Studios and AJ Rogers of New You Dance Center, features Chamber members who double as performers and is billed as two days of family-friendly entertainment. It closes at 6 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Food, wine and beer

Festivalgoers can buy wine and beer glasses, drink tickets and discounted combination packages at ticket booths throughout the grounds. Vendors accept only the current year's glasses and tickets. Buyers must be at least 21 years old to purchase glasses or receive alcoholic beverages.

Getting there

Festival organizers recommend taking BART to Lafayette Station to skip traffic and parking headaches. Bike East Bay will offer free bike valet service at 81 Lafayette Circle.

Organizers also suggest arriving early for cooler weather, smaller crowds and the best selection of art and crafts.

Kid Zone and family fun

A Kid Zone will offer rides and activities at varying prices. Family programming details are posted at lafayettefestival.com/family-fun.

The City of Lafayette noted in a May 29 roundup that vendor, beer-and-wine booth and sponsor applications were still open. The full visitor guide and food-and-drink information are available at lafayettefestival.com.
