Saint Mary's College hired four-year Gaels alum Hannah Rapp as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2026-27 season, the program announced Friday, Sept. 4. Rapp played 106 games for Saint Mary's from 2020 to 2024, scoring over 400 points on 43% shooting before leaving for a graduate transfer year and a professional career in Australia.

The hire brings a familiar face back to Moraga.

"Once a Gael, always a Gael … Getting the opportunity to come back to the place that shaped me—not just as a player, but now as a coach—is something I'll never take for granted," Rapp said.

The Melbourne, Australia, native's breakout season came in 2022-23, when she averaged seven points and over five rebounds per game across a career-high 31 games. She finished her college eligibility as a graduate transfer at Santa Clara, where Michael Floyd served as interim head coach during the 2024-25 season.

After Santa Clara, Rapp turned professional. She played 25 games for the Waverley Falcons in Australia's NBL1 league in 2026, averaging 6.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. Her best outing came June 21 in an 85-82 win over the Keilor Thunder, when she scored a season-high 20 points. She finished the Falcons' season with three games above 15 points.

Rapp reunites in Moraga with Floyd, who was hired June 25 as an assistant under head coach Jeff Cammon. Floyd spent nine seasons on staff at Santa Clara from 2016 to 2025, helping the Broncos to a 25-win season in 2023-24 that included 12 West Coast Conference (WCC) wins and a WBI postseason appearance. He took over as interim head coach for the 2024-25 season and posted a 14-17 record.

Floyd then spent 2025-26 as associate head coach at Sacramento State, where the Hornets won 15 games and notched a Big Sky Tournament victory over Idaho State.

Cammon praised Rapp's competitiveness, work ethic and commitment to teammates during her playing days. He said her game knowledge and passion for the program will be assets to the coaching staff.

The Gaels finished 15-17 overall and 6-12 in WCC play last season under Cammon. The program led the conference in defense, and Floyd's offensive specialty complements that identity.

Saint Mary's opens the 2026-27 season in November.
