Spanish-speaking families in Orinda, Moraga, and Lafayette now have a dedicated transit resource as the fall school year approaches.
County Connection published its Spanish-language youth transit guide on Friday, July 31, titled "Guía de transporte público para jóvenes: Transit 101." The guide covers bus routes, fares, discount programs, and first-time rider tips for students ages 6–18 at Lamorinda schools including Acalanes High, Campolindo High, Miramonte High, Orinda Intermediate, and Stanley Middle.
The guide is a companion to the English-language Youth Rider Guide the Gazette covered July 27. Both resources detail County Connection's 600-series school bus routes, which operate on school days only and depart approximately 10 minutes after the final bell.
Routes and fares
Specific Lamorinda routes include Route 625 for Acalanes, Routes 606 and 6 for Campolindo, Miramonte, and Orinda Intermediate, and Route 626 for Stanley Middle. Most run in the afternoon only. Each route makes a single trip. Buses hold about 70 passengers; once full, no additional students may board.
The standard cash fare is $2.50 (exact change, no transfers). A Youth Clipper card drops that to $1.00 with transfers included. The card is available to riders ages 5–18 and can be obtained the same day in person at County Connection's Concord office at 2477 Arnold Industrial Way, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Online applications take several weeks for delivery by mail.
County Connection also operates a Mobile Outpost that travels across Contra Costa County, where families can apply for a Youth Clipper card. Cards are mailed within two business days.
Free passes through Pass2Class
Families looking to ride free should know about Pass2Class, a separate program run by 511 CCTA and funded by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority and the Bay Area Air District. It provides a free County Connection pass valid through Sept. 30, 2026, for up to two students per household.
Applications opened July 7 and close Sept. 30 or when supplies run out. A parent or guardian must complete the application, and students must be 19 or younger and enrolled in grades 1–12 at a Contra Costa County school. Passes are generally mailed within one week of a valid application.
The guide notes that Pass2Class and the Youth Clipper card are separate programs with separate applications.

County Connection customer service is available Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at (925) 676-7500. The guide recommends Google Maps or the Transit app for real-time bus arrival information.
Pass2Class applications close Sept. 30, 2026, or when passes run out, whichever comes first.
