Three-time Grammy winner Cécile McLorin Salvant performs at Siesta Valley Bowl in Orinda on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as part of the venue's Jazz | World | Blues concert series.

Salvant, a 2020 MacArthur Fellow named the Jazz Journalists Association's Female Vocalist of the Year for 2026, has won Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammys for three consecutive albums: For One To Love, Dreams and Daggers and The Window. Her 2025 album Oh Snap was named a best album of the year by the Guardian, Jazzwise, JazzTimes and the Francis Davis Jazz Critics Poll, according to her label Nonesuch Records.

The Siesta Valley Bowl website describes Salvant as a composer, singer and visual artist who draws on vaudeville, blues, folk traditions, theater, jazz and baroque music. She won the Thelonious Monk competition in 2010.

The Sept. 22 show is part of Jazz | World | Blues @ Siesta Valley Bowl, an ongoing series that has already featured bassist Stanley Clarke and Ukrainian folk-punk group DakhaBrakha. The series brings artists from several musical traditions to the 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater nestled in the Orinda hills at 100 Gateway Blvd.

The venue, formerly the Bruns Amphitheater and longtime home of California Shakespeare Theater, reopened in June under new management after Cal Shakes declared bankruptcy in 2025. The East Bay nonprofit Siesta Valley Foundation signed a 15-year lease with landowner East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) in November 2025, the East Bay Times reported.

"An intimate venue with festival-quality production in one of the most beautiful natural settings you'll find anywhere," talent buyer David Lefkowitz of Blue Note Entertainment Group said of the amphitheater in June. The East Bay Times described the stage's setting among eucalyptus and redwood trees, with views of the surrounding hills, and praised the new sound system.

Campbell Foster, chairman and co-founder of the Siesta Valley Foundation, said in December 2025, when the EBMUD lease was signed, that "SVF would like to be more involved with the Lamorinda community, while at the same time serving as an asset for the whole East Bay."

General manager Suman Chatterjee, former general manager of San Francisco's Masonic, leads day-to-day operations. Founder and chairman Tom Romary launched the venue alongside Chatterjee. The amphitheater plans 75 to 100 performances annually, April through November, spanning rock, blues, jazz, funk, soul, bluegrass, country, Latin, classical and pop.

Tickets for the Salvant show are available at SiestaValleyBowl.com and Ticketmaster. On-site parking costs $30, and a free shuttle runs between the Orinda BART station and the venue approximately every 10 minutes on show days.

Upcoming at Siesta Valley Bowl: Pete Escovedo Orchestra on Friday, Sept. 25; Al Di Meola on Saturday, Sept. 26; plus Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite, La Santa Cecilia and Super Diamond later in the season. Orinda's free Thursday Nights in the Park series continues at Orinda Community Center Park through Thursday, Oct. 1.
