Acalanes rolled to a 35-10 road win over Las Lomas in Walnut Creek on Friday, Oct. 9, pushing the Dons to 5-1 and setting up a Lamorinda rivalry showdown against Miramonte.
Senior quarterback Tyler Winkles accounted for all five Acalanes touchdowns. He rushed for a season-high 74 yards on 10 carries with three scores on the ground, then completed 19 of 27 passes for 179 yards and two more touchdowns with no interceptions, according to the Acalanes Boosters. The performance came a week after Winkles threw for 427 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-15 win over American Canyon, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which ranked Acalanes No. 6 in the Bay Area ahead of the Las Lomas game.
The Dons leaned on the ground game against Las Lomas, piling up 182 rushing yards and 361 total yards. Junior running back Joaquin Bordi carried 24 times for 108 yards in his first 100-yard game of the season, according to the Acalanes Boosters.
Las Lomas scored on a wind-aided 51-yard field goal in the first quarter and added a 35-yard touchdown run. The Knights did not score again, the Boosters reported.
The Acalanes defense piled up 61 total tackles, according to the Boosters. Junior Dax Vail led the unit with 12 tackles and a forced fumble. Senior Danny Dunne added eight tackles and a tackle for loss. Senior Luke Dafferner recorded seven tackles, and junior Mason Andersen contributed six. Senior Grant Condy made an interception, his fourth of the season.
The win sets the stage for Friday's rivalry matchup. Acalanes hosts Miramonte next.
Miramonte enters at 3-3 after a 27-7 loss to Campolindo on Oct. 9, according to MaxPreps. The Matadors have dropped three straight, falling to Northgate 47-17 on Sept. 18 and Windsor 21-13 on Sept. 25 before the Campolindo defeat.
Miramonte head coach Nick Safir called the Acalanes game "a big one" when he previewed the season in August for The Orinda News. "They have some fantastic football players," Safir said at the time. In 2025, Acalanes beat Miramonte 21-10 and finished 11-1 overall.
Senior wide receiver Finn Rivera led all receivers Friday with nine catches for 92 yards and both of Winkles' touchdown passes, according to the Boosters. Senior Jackson Boselli added five catches for 44 yards.
