Acalanes quarterback Tyler Winkles threw five touchdown passes and the defense held Miramonte to 10 points as the Dons rolled to a 46-10 rivalry win Friday, Oct. 16.

The 46 points marked Acalanes' highest total of the season, according to the Acalanes Boosters. Winkles completed 13 of 21 passes for 312 yards, the recap reported. Senior Finn Rivera finished with 187 receiving yards and three touchdowns on eight catches. Senior Jackson Boselli caught three passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns—an average of nearly 36 yards per reception.

Acalanes entered the game at 5-1, according to MaxPreps. The win gives the Dons momentum heading into the final stretch before playoffs.

The ground game got a boost from junior Justin Davis, who returned from injury and gained 57 yards on three carries. His carries included a 40-yard touchdown run. Junior Joaquin Bordi also ran hard.

The defense matched the offense's production. Acalanes recorded seven tackles for loss and two sacks. Senior Luke Dafferner led the charge with three tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. Junior Sean Tandler added a sack and a tackle for loss. Junior Dax Vail, the team's season leader in total tackles, posted seven more. Grant Condy, Max Volpian and Sam Phillips limited the Matadors' receivers throughout the game, according to the Boosters.

Up front, the offensive line the Boosters site calls "The Lafayette Dam" gave Winkles time to find his targets downfield. Matthew Lee, Regino Rubio, Oliver MacLeod, Graham Welton, Grady Branagh and Cash Ricker also opened lanes for the running backs.

Sophomore kicker Jonny Rubin went 5-for-5 on extra points and hit a 31-yard field goal. He also made a touchdown-saving tackle on a kickoff return late in the fourth quarter.

Acalanes travels to Clayton Valley Charter on Friday, Oct. 23, for a 7 p.m. kickoff, according to the team’s schedule.
